There are many instant messaging applications out there. The class gave us many examples which include AIM, Yahoo Messenger, MSN messenger, and Google Talk. I have a Yahoo Messenger and Maebo Account. MaeboMe Theoretically, I prefer Maebo best because it allows me to IM across platforms.
I recently installed Skype at home. Skype has in-built messaging capabilities as well. The class didn’t mention Skype VOiP but I think this is an application worth mentioning. I bet some libraries are already using Skype to do online references the way it is being done via Internet Text Messaging.
Sasha Zykova and I tested our Google Talk and it worked. I was able to send her an interview of Jeanne Crisp on YouTube. Here is the link What I noticed was the other people in my address book who were also online I could chat with. With Google talk, I can equally talk when I have a headphone set, just like Skype.
This blog relates to the Instant Messenging Class of the 4th Week.

Kwame, I see you’re working your way through the 20 things fairly rapidly now that you’ve picked it up again. Be sure to enter your permalinks in the progress log.
